Mexico auto output , exports keep up growth in Nov

MEXICO CITY (MarketWatch) -- Mexico's November auto production rose 11% from the year-ago month to 231,080 vehicles, setting a record for the month of November, the Mexican Automobile Industry Association, or AMIA, said Tuesday.

Exports of cars and light trucks rose 18% on year to 199,068 autos, and domestic sales were 10% higher to 83,107 vehicles, AMIA said.

Year-to-date auto production rose 14% versus the January-November period last year to 2.38 million units, which was a record for any similar period.

Mexico is enjoying an auto production boom on the strength of exports to the U.S., along with rapidly growing sales to the rest of Latin America as free-trade agreements bring down barriers to Mexican-made autos.
